Layla Jade and Santa

Santa and Layla Jade

Christmas brought new experiences for Tracey, Layla Jade, and myself this year. Layla Jade got to sit in Santa's lap for the first time this Christmas Eve at Chaney's Chapel. She just sat and took everything in and enjoyed all of it, from what I saw. Christmas Day was pretty amusing, I think she enjoyed looking at the wrapping paper more than she cared about anything else that was going on in the room around her. She learned how to, partially, roll over on her little tummy. We have been so amazed at that. We can't believe how much she has learned already, how fast she has already grown. She is smiling all the time, she coos at us any chance she gets, she holds her head up a good bit, and now rolling over! Our little girl is growing so quickly.

Christmas Spirit

Well, it's that time of year again. You know, the time where people are going out of there minds trying to get all their shopping finished, and the roads are always busy? Yeah, Christmas time is here again alright. I am excited, myself. It is Layla Jade's and Anna's first Christmas. That's right, we have TWO new baby's this year. They are about 3 weeks apart! It just makes this Christmas all the more meaningful, to see God's work by just looking at these beautiful Baby Girls that he has blessed our family(families) with. My friend, Adrienne, made a good point the other day. She said, "How can you look at a baby, and not believe in God?" She is right. He is the creator of awesome things, but to look at a baby is to believe that they are his greatest, most loved, works!

This year, we started getting in to the Christmas Spirit by attending a Christmas Concert at the Church Aubrey, Josh, and the kids (all 4 of them!!) attend. It was amazing! It lasted nearly two hours, and still had you wanting more! It was Layla Jade's and Anna's first church service to attend. They didn't mind it much, they mostly slept throught the service. Well, Layla Jade slept through the entire service, Anna looked around and checked everything out for a little while. I was so excited to get to bond with my new niece. I didn't get to see her when she was born, because I had Staph Infection and needed to get that taken care of without infecting Mommy and Baby. However, I did get to see her last weekend for a few minutes. Yesterday, I got to hold her for a pretty good while. Both babies were passed around a good bit during the service. Afterwards, we came home and napped for about an hour before going up to Tracey's parents for dinner and a movie. Tracey needed to help his dad work on his bike, and Bradley (Tracey's cousin) is in from Pittsburgh to visit for Christmas. It's that time of year alright, family and friends getting together to celebrate the holidays.

Not too much longer until Christmas is here. Next week, to be precise! Isn't it hard to believe that it is here already? It seems like the year 2008 has just flown right by. I will keep you updated with more pictures as our families get together to celebrate. Have a blessed day!

Saturday at Memum and Pepop's

Denny and Mimi came to visit Layla before she spent the night with Memum and Pepop

Friday night, Memum and Pepop took Layla Jade to their house to spend the night so Tracey and I could get some sleep. It was nice, let me tell you. But, I missed my baby girl! Saturday, we all spent the day at my parent's house. Dad made his ever so famous chili, and we prepared to watch the Alabama vs. Florida game. Mimi and Denny came over around oneish to visit and to watch the game with us. Well, naturally, Mimi wasn't there to watch the game...she wanted Layla! And, well, we just had to let her have her....no if's, and's, or but's about it! Amy and Shawn also joined us a little bit later. Amy, Mom, and I went through baby pictures and compared them to Layla. I am determined that Layla Jade does not JUST look like her Daddy, but like my side of the family too! After the game was over, Tracey and I loaded up the car, then Layla Jade, and headed for home to call it an early night!

This year, we celebrated Thanksgiving with Tracey's other grandparents in Pennsylvania. We were approximately an hour north of Pittsburgh, and it was cold. I am not used to that kind of cold, but I didn't mind it. I created havoc with the snow! Snow balls appeared out of nowhere when I was around. It was fun though. Tracey's grandparents got to meet their first great grand-daughter, along with several other members of Connie's family. (Connie being my mother-in-law) We stayed Wednesday - Sunday, then had to get back home to our every day lives. Thanksgiving was great, turkey was good, Alabama beat Auburn (38-0), all was well!

For those of you who don't already know, Layla Jade made her debut on November 6, 2008 at approximately 5:42p.m. She weighed in at 6lbs. 15.7oz. and was measured at 20" long. She is so amazing, and absolutely beautiful with her head full of soft brown hair, dark eyes, olive complexion, rosey cheeks, and she is so tiny! Layla Jade constantly has her tongue moving and she is more alert with each day. She moves her eyes to follow voices, and she has gotten to where she coos when she is laying in her crib, looking around at all there is to see. Welcome to the world, Layla Jade!

Awaiting Baby Layla-Jade

With just three weeks left in my pregnancy, I find myself all the more anxious for Baby Layla-Jade to arrive. Tracey and I have each packed clothes in a small suitcase, and have gotten a diaper bag ready for Baby Layla. So, whenever the time comes...hopefully we will be ready and have everything packed without forgetting anything. I have bought extra batteries and a memory card for our camera, which is safely tucked away in my purse. The house is nice and clean, so I won't have anything but laundry to worry about when we come home. I have found myself cleaning every day, even if it doesn't need to be cleaned. Tracey woke up the other morning to me dusting the living room downstairs, to the hum of the dishwasher, the swishes of the washer, and the faint roar of the dryer. This all started around 5:30-ish when I had nothing better to do because I couldn't sleep.
We started our one week visits to the doctor on Monday. Dr. Vargas looked surprised as she told us that I was already dialated more than most first-time expectant mother's. But, she also told us that it could be the same next week when we go in. I cross my fingers that it isn't and that they just send me over to the hospital from the doctor's office. Is that wrong? Anyways, she said everything looked great and just to be patient. Yeah....patient....that's what I thought too! How can I be patient when she squirms like she does, clawing at my sides, sleeps with her feet propped under my ribs like she's in a hammock, and wakes up right as I am settling in for a night of rest? I don't necessarily mind these things, only when I am trying to sleep, or if I wake up with sore ribs like I have today. It's just that I am ready for her to be here! With that, I am going to get off here and go fold some laundry....sound like fun?
